Set up the MailChimp Integration

Use MailChimp's email marketing platform to send emails to your contact lists from Loxo

MailChimp is a marketing automation and email marketing platform. You can integrate your Loxo account with MailChimp, create lists in Loxo to export contacts directly into MailChimp, and then build and send campaigns directly from MailChimp.

The first step is to set up your integration. This article explains how to get this set up and how to use the integration to export contacts from Loxo to MailChimp.


Set up the MailChimp Integration

To set up the integration between Loxo and MailChimp, you'll need an API Key from MailChimp. Follow the instructions below to complete the setup.

  1. Log in to MailChimp and click your initials or profile picture in the lower left-hand corner.

  2. Click Account to view your Account options.

  3. Select Extras -> API Keys.

  4. Select "Create A Key," then copy the API key.

  5. Log in to Loxo, and select Settings from the navigation bar.

  6. Scroll to "Integrations" within the Workspace section.

  7. Paste the API Key into the "Api Key" field for MailChimp and then Save.


Use the MailChimp Integration

Once you've set up your MailChimp integration, you are ready to create a campaign list in Loxo and export it to MailChimp. Follow the steps below to use the MailChimp integration within Loxo.

  1. From the People page in Loxo, select the contacts that you would like to export to MailChimp.

  2. Once your contacts have been selected, choose Export to the right of the page and then "Export to MailChimp" option in the upper right corner.

  3. This will open a window where you can choose the priority of the email type that Loxo will export into MailChimp. Loxo will only import 1 email address per contact and will determine which email to export for each person based on your type preference.


    For example, if your preference is to send emails to your contact's main email address, drag and drop "Main" to the top of the list, or if you do not want to send an email to your contact's work email address, be sure to uncheck the box next to the "Work" type so work emails won't be exported into MailChimp.

  4. Enter a List Name and then select Export Records.

  5. It may take a few minutes before your list populates in MailChimp. Once it does, your contacts will be available under "Lists."

  6. Now you can build your email campaign in MailChimp!

Emails that are sent from MailChimp to the contacts on lists you exported from Loxo will sync into the contact's record in your database. If you send a Loxo contact an email from MailChimp, but they were not exported from Loxo, the email won't sync.
