Formatting Proven Practices in Loxo

Check out tips to ensure proper text formatting for things like emails and job descriptions

When copying and pasting information from one platform to another, formatting can be carried over and cause odd spacing, font, or other text-related changes. Sometimes this happens by default, and you may need to update the data to view it the way you would like.

To help you avoid running into strange formatting issues, we've compiled some universal tips below.

Bring over the text without any formatting

Copying and pasting text from one application to another often carries over the original formatting. Sometimes, the formatting applied in the original application is not supported by the application that you are pasting your text into. This can cause the text to be re-formatted unexpectedly as the system tries to accommodate any differences.

The most efficient way to ensure formatting is consistent is to clear all formatting when bringing text into Loxo. Google Chrome now supports text stripping via Ctrl+Shift+V (or Cmd+Shift+V on Mac). To ensure your pasted text is format-free:

  1. Copy the desired text.

  2. Click into the text editor where you want to paste the text.

  3. Hit Ctrl+Shift+V (or Cmd+Shift+V on Mac). This should strip any formatting that was previously applied to the text from being brought over.

*If you are pasting a new entry into a text editor that already includes text, you will want to ensure you clear any existing text to remove any formatting that may be applied to your imported text.

Remove extra spacing between lines.ย

Press Control + Enter (or Shift + Enter) to have the new line fall right underneath the previous line. The Control/Shift + Enter combination is used as a way of saying "a new line, not a new paragraph."
