Set Required Fields When Creating Records

Ensure your most important fields are filled in when creating records and jobs

You can make sure that specific fields are mandatory when creating new records and jobs. This will also prevent users from being able to delete data from these fields in existing profiles. Jobs, People, Placements, Deals and Companies can all have custom validations set to require users to add specific information before creating the record.

These required fields only apply when manually creating a Job, Person, Placement, Deal or Company - it will not apply to records brought in through resume parsing, applications, Loxo Source or the Chrome extension.

To set the requirements, agency admins will navigate to their Settings.

1. Click on Settings on the navigation bar and then select Custom Validations.

2. There are five options: Company, Deal, Job, Person and Placement. Click on the tabs at the top to toggle between the Custom Validations for each.

3. Set fields to be required by toggling the switch under "Required" to ON.

4. You can also set a minimum character length for the field by entering a number under the Minimum Length column.

5. You can add any custom fields you've created as required fields by clicking on the blue "+Custom validation" button in the top right corner. If the Custom Field has already been added, it will be listed on the page with the rest of the Custom Validations and will not be shown in the dropdown menu.

6. Remember to hit Save in the top right corner after making changes to your custom validations.

Now, when you or your colleagues create a record, a small red asterisk will show next to those required fields. If a field is missed, you will not be able to select "Create" or "Continue." The modal will explain what information needs to be filled in before you will be allowed to move forward:

Setting required fields helps ensure data integrity within your Loxo database, and you can now be more confident that all of the necessary data is getting entered into your Loxo database - and it can not be removed!
