Source contacts and build your master prospect target list to kickstart business development

Loxo's Companies Page helps you manage your target or prospect companies like an account-based system, giving you the tools to build your total addressable market (TAM), identify leads, and refine your ideal customer profile (ICP).

This article explains how to build your list of prospect accounts that you are working to convert to clients. You can also expand your contacts for existing client relationships. Check out our video overview below, or use the links to navigate to step-by-step instructions and more information.

Search for a Company within Your Database

In order to maximize the power of Loxo's account-based view, start by finding the company or organization that you want to target. There are a few ways to search for your target organization, and they are outlined below.

To begin, navigate to your Companies page using the navigation bar on the left.

  • Use the Boolean-enabled search bar to identify a specific organization, or an industry-focus which already exists in your database.

  • Filter by specific Company Lists.

    • Go to the top right and click on Lists.

    • Select from Lists that you and your team have created.

  • Use the "+ Company" button in the top right corner to add a company if you have not found the results you're seeking.

    • Click "Manually Add Company"

    • Type the company name to generate a list of companies that already exist in the data set.

    • You can also import a CSV file of companies to your database. You can learn more about this in our CSV Import guide.

Accessing Your Contacts at a Company

In order to view your current contacts at a company, you can easily filter the Contacts tab to access and pin those that you have a pre-existing contact and/or relationship with.

  1. Navigate to the Companies page and open the specific company you are targeting or working with.

  2. Click into the 'Contacts' tab at the top.

Note: The Contacts section will only display people already within your database from that company.

You are unable to take multi-recipient actions like emailing or texting from the Contacts view. Instead, navigate to the People page and filter by the Company column if there is a need to message multiple people at once. The results will include contacts and candidates at that company. Filtering by the Company Name and person "type" will give you the ability to differentiate.

We recommend pinning your main contacts to the Overview page of the company record for easy access.

Build a Contact List for Your Prospect Companies

The Company page is designed to power your prospecting so you can refine your contacts within a target company and expand your reach within existing clients. Follow the steps below to identify decision-makers, hiring managers, and other key points of contact within a specific company.

  1. Navigate to the Companies page and open the specific company record that you want to target.

  2. Click into the 'Employees' tab at the top. (Note: this is only included on certain plans. If you do not have access to this page, feel free to reach out to our team to explore upgrading your account!)

  3. There are a few options in the Employees tab to help you refine your search and find the people you are targeting.

    • Use the search bar for specific names, departments, skills, or boolean strings.

    • Filter for specific titles using structured data based on commonly used titles.

    • Add a location if that is relevant to your search.

    • Select seniority levels from the drop-down menu. Choose one or multiple options from the list, such as C-level, Partner, VP, Head, Director, Manager, Senior, Entry, or Intern.

  4. You can take a variety of actions for next steps once you identify a contact or group of contacts.

*Adding someone to your database from the Employees tab on the Company page does not automatically log them as a "contact." They will be brought into your Loxo database as your default person type, which is typically "Candidate."

Read below to learn how to pin a contact to your Company Overview. You can also send outreach or add the contact to a job or a List directly from their profile on a Company Record.

Pin or Unpin a Person to Your Company Overview

When you find a contact who is relevant to building your business and when you're working across multiple customer organizations, it is important to stay organized with quick access to the right contacts. Pinning people to a company record can help you do both.

Once you have found a contact you want to pin to a company, it is very easy to pin or unpin their profile to the Company Overview.

Follow the steps below to pin a contact to a company.

  1. Navigate to the company you are working within and find the person that you want to pin. For more insight on this step, read above.

  2. On the person's profile, hover on the top right corner to reveal the pin icon.

  3. Click the pin icon to add this contact to the Pinned People section of the Company Overview.

    • The pin will display as yellow when a contact's record is included as a pinned person.

    • The person's name and profile photo will display on the Pinned People section of the Company Overview.

  4. To unpin or remove a pinned person, click on the yellow pin icon next to their name.

    • You can unpin a person directly from the Pinned People section.

    • You can unpin a person from their Contact or Employee card.

Once the pin icon has been de-selected, that contact will no longer be pinned.

Editing or Adding Company Information

If you find that the company website or social media* URL is missing or not accurate, you are able to edit the company details, which will lead to better enrichment of the company data as well. Some of the blocks on the Company Overview are powered by the data available for the company, such as the summary, Highlights, and Similar Companies sections. Ensuring you have the correct information on record for your companies can help bring even more value to your database.

To edit a company's information, such as their website or social URLs, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Companies page and open the specific company you want to edit or update.

  2. Next to the company name, you will find the "Edit" button.

  3. Clicking here gives you the ability to edit or add the company web URL, social media URLs, or any other relevant URL you would like.

  4. Click "Save."

  2. Click the company name to open the Company Overview.

  3. Click the yellow status button in the top right corner to update a company's status.

    • The default company status is 'No Status' until it is updated.
